Embroidered vs. woven: which is right for you?
Embroidered patches
Thread stitched onto a twill backing. The classic patch look with a raised, textured surface. Best for bold designs with limited colour counts (up to 8 thread colours). Sizes from 1.5 inches to 12 inches. The most popular choice for team patches, club badges, and fandom designs.
Woven patches
Thread woven directly into the fabric using thinner yarns. Flat surface, finer detail, and the ability to reproduce complex artwork and gradients that embroidery cannot capture. Best for detailed logos, small text, photographic elements, or designs with more than 8 colours.
Backing options
Every custom patch comes with your choice of backing:
Iron-on backing: Heat-activated adhesive on the back. The most popular option for patches going on jackets, bags, and casual wear. See our iron-on application guide for best results.
Sew-on backing: Plain twill back, designed to be stitched onto the garment. The most durable attachment method, recommended for workwear and items that see heavy washing.
Velcro backing: Hook-and-loop for tactical and interchangeable applications. Popular with airsoft groups, military-themed designs, and anyone who wants to swap patches between garments.
Pin backing: A butterfly-clutch pin on the back, turning the patch into a wearable pin. Good for events, conferences, and designs people will move between outfits.
How the custom process works
1. Send your design
Email us your artwork, sketch, or description. Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG) produce the best results, but we can work from JPGs, PNGs, or even a napkin sketch. If you have no artwork at all, describe what you want and we will create a design from scratch for a small setup fee ($25).
2. Approve the proof
We send a digital proof showing exactly how the patch will look, including thread colours, border style, and size. Revisions at this stage are unlimited and free. We do not start production until you are satisfied.
3. Production & delivery
Standard turnaround is 10-14 working days from proof approval. Rush service (5-7 days) available for an additional fee. Shipped via USPS from Sarasota, Florida. International shipping available.

Custom pricing depends on size, production method, and quantity. Here are starting prices to help you plan. Final pricing is confirmed in the quote after we see your design.
5-24 patches
Embroidered: from $6.50 each. Woven: from $7.00 each. Includes setup, one backing option, and individual poly-bag packaging.
25-99 patches
Embroidered: from $4.50 each. Woven: from $5.00 each. Volume discount kicks in. Additional backing options and custom packaging available.
100+ patches
Embroidered: from $2.75 each. Woven: from $3.25 each. Full wholesale pricing. We can add header cards, custom poly bags, or retail-ready packaging.
Common custom orders
Cosplay groups: Matching faction or guild patches for conventions. Usually 10-30 pieces, embroidered, with iron-on backing.
Wedding parties: Custom patches for the bridal party. Sewn into jacket linings, attached to denim jackets for the reception, or given as groomsmen gifts.
School & scout groups: Achievement patches, troop identifiers, event commemoratives. Bulk orders with multiple designs are no problem.
Band merch: Woven or embroidered patches sold at shows or bundled with vinyl releases. We can produce retail-ready packaging.
Company uniforms: Logo patches for staff uniforms, work jackets, and hats. Sew-on or Velcro backing for easy replacement.
